The New Event Research Institute was a private research institute in Iran that was established with the aim of studying and researching in the fields of philosophy, sociology, history, theology and art, and organizing seminars and workshops and holding other forms of scientific communities in these fields. The New Event Research Institute, during the years when the university and the media were under pressure, played an important role in keeping alive the field of intellectual debates in Iran. It sought to become a civic institution governed by its own members, paving the way for the democratization of knowledge. In August 2013, the institute issued a public call for the formation of specialized working groups, stating that the purpose of this work was "to move towards the establishment of a house of humanities " .The method of teaching considered at the New Event Research Institute was a mix of theory and practice. Various working groups were active in this institute and focused on different subjects of humanities. This institute was established in July 2011 under the management of Mostafa Mehraeen, but in the fall of 2014 it ended its work due to economic problems and political pressure.
